I wouldn't mind being a non-passing tranny if times were more like back in the 90s or 2000s when most people never talked about trannies and anyone dealing with the concept of you being a tranny would just register it as some rare weird thing some people go through without politicizing it.
But being a tranny now would be too much of a stupid culture war hassle.

Do you think trannies *were* politicized before 2010? I don't think trannies were thought about much at all before 2010 though obviously I wasn't a tranny myself during the 90s or 2000s so I'm only going by what I saw and heard during those times as a regular guy.

I was, and I can tell you it was a different world to transition in (2003). Gatekeeping made it a long process with a lot of work but if you weren't egregiously visible it was something 95% of people just didn't pay much attention to.

Other than evangelicals, which weren't really the mainstream political force they are now after the 90s or so, no one really had very strong feelings about trannies except laughing at them in the media. The legal pathways were clear and doable, I had name/ID/SS#/passport within a couple years with SRS.
