>>40389605>Why they are like this I do not understandAn exceptional person can interpret and recognize all of the cues that a person less exceptional than themselves can. This creates space for a common ground between folks of varying capacities. Out of necessity, this space of overlap is where popular culture lives.
Unfortunately, the relationship is one way. The less exceptional can't reach up the way the more exceptional can reach down. Thus, popular culture, and many other facets of public life, are dominated by the bottom quintile of the population.
Zoomies are the first generation where popular culture was truly online. When millenials were teens being online a lot still meant you were a bit alternative--not a nerd, but alternative.
So, it's not that the internet ruined zoomers or that zoomers are especially retarded. It's just that people are retarded in general so anything that reflects the desires and collective personality of a population will seem a bit retarded. Reels and TikTok is the carrier of popular culture now.
So that's "why they are like this". Because people of any age are mostly "like that"--retarded and short sighted. You're just seeing it because you're engaging with a broad slice of the population.
