not better but kuina from alice in borderlands came first and she's essentially the same archetype of trans woman who's strong but she's a passoid and a martial artist instead of a military girl. I think hyun-ju's sympathetic portrayal of hons is better though. I think Tangerine (2015) also is on the same tier but it's a lot less glamorous than hyun ju's life as it's about sex workers. I also like the trans rep in my hero academia but it's primarily subtextual and only super noticeable in the manga contrasting tiger and magne as commentaries on passing privilege where magne becomes evil because she and her trans friends are treated like shit for being trans, but tiger is able to be a hero and treated well because he passes.
