I think people are compelled to procreate, and adoption is a difficult process that is likely to involve a child with trauma. I don't blame anyone for not adopting. I didn't.

more likely is that stem cell research will advance to the point that doctors will be able to create eggs with from genetic males. this is almost certainly going to happen in the next 10 years. you then do ivf with your husband and a surrogate. i personally would not allow a transplanted uterus into my body because of the insane risks and costs compared to surrogacy (and the whole eggs + ivf thing would need to happen anyway).

- iiuc there is no need for sperm cells so trannies who did not store sperm may be able to be genetic mothers
- creating eggs from genetic males is huge for trannies and cisgays but the breakthrough also includes creating eggs from non-gamete cells which has massive implications for cishet couples too, and will likely receive funding under an aggressively pro-birth pro-ivf administration (not a maga but still).
- probably expensive but still more cost-effective than uterine transplant (which would still require this kind of ivf)
- lots of companies offer special infertility insurance. i can see this kind of care being covered for trannies in blue states on the west coast.
- if you have a lot of money you could probably convince a doctor to try it on you today.
