The biggest problem with the internet, and honestly the video format at large is that it is not only an endless series of anecdotes but anecdotes that could be easily manipulated to create whatever story you like. Its what the entirety of reaction youtubers/whining about tiktok trend youtubers are created from, and its because you can go looking for whatever type of video you want, find some of them from any of the 8 billion people on earth and find a fairly sizable number of whatever youre looking for, and then proceed to go and present it as some society breaking problem.
How many news articles now are made up of something to the effect of 'Musk does thing. Twitter users clap back' and its just 5 random tweets highlighted?
There is no limiting factor of community anymore, and human brains are not really built to take this. I think we are just at the very start of the true horrors that this will bring down upon the world.
I dont think I really have to explain how this applies to trans people, trans rights, and our online existence as a population.
