I feel like the whole poly thing is just a social contagion tbdesu. Every time I try to get into dating the other person immediately wants to get into sex when its the last thing on my mind. They invite me back to their place and Im just there wanting to watch movies and they slowly get more and more handsy and it always turns into me just getting pressured into it.
Id imagine the same plays out all across the community, with the people who are pushy about sex just getting what they want and the more reserved people getting dragged into it.
I think that its a 'once that culture is there its very hard to remove yourself from, and its very hard to remove it entirely' thing.
