Unironically Fox News and other conservative news outlets pushing culture war issues have done more for trans awareness than any twitter transbians could and pickmes don't want you to know this. The first time I heard of anything tranny related outside of "there are these weird crossdressing people who wanna be the opposite gender" was when my mom, who at this point in my life was getting pumped up on conservative media, told me about a supposed California law that let trans students use the locker room that aligns with their gender and she told this to fucking everybody she knew like it was some kind of autistic special interest for her. Just two or three years later I'd hear trans bathroom shit brought up after conservatives lost on gay marriage, and of course people like my mom fell for it hook line and sinker. I barely knew what a tranny was before then, and suddenly it's like I was hearing it everywhere. If I was born ten years later I'd probably be a youngshit because with trannies being such a culture war talking point I'd have a better idea of what they are, and also understand I was one as well instead of repping until 19.

I feel like it's backwards logic to say that more public tranny hate would've encouraged you to troon sooner. have you considered that maybe your mother's public hate for trans people played into why you repped so long?

I've accepted that long ago but didn't factor in to the rest of the equation somehow. Point taken.

the only reason I bring it up at all is because my mother was the same way. I remember I found out about trans people when there was one on TV (I didn't know it) and my mom sperged out talking about how vile and disgusting she was and even asked me if I agreed. I said yes but that night I figured out I was trans and also that I could never tell my mom. it's why I waited until I moved out at 18 to start transition and it's still my biggest regret to this day.
