What's the difference between a "straight trans woman" and a "[gay] femboy?"

Even other trans women will call the former gay male larpers sometimes. It can't be "others' perception of you" because like the whole concept of the word "trap" was "femboy who looks so much like a girl he fools people." It also can't be "dysphoria" because some "straight trans women" don't want SRS.

IIRC the difference is that femboys just do it as a fashion accessory while straight trans women do have dysphoria with living as male, not necessarily genital dysphoria. I don't blame them not wanting SRS since the results are awful.

ok. A trans woman is someone who want's to align socially and physically with the category of woman. In society, at least modern western society, a woman is near synonymous with female, as such becoming as close to a biological female as possible is the prerogative of a trans woman. Females have vaginas, males have penises. Therefore a trans woman would want a vagina, not a penis. Simple as.

I don't want a penis but I don't want a vagina at least with the technology we have now. I want to get pregnant. Right now I can have a crude hole made and that will not give me the functionality I desire. I can have sex otherwise and I'm ok with that. You've failed to address the fact that the "solution" to genital dysphoria is not necessarily ideal. It's not like FFS or laser where it just works fine, inherently it doesn't give access to full functionality because it's attempting to create something that didn't exist prior. At first I thought wow this thread has a lot of discussion about the topic of the first post. Then I read the entire thing and realized it’s the same 2-3 people arguing about points that have nothing to do with what the original post said. I guess The biggest turds produce the biggest splashes in the bowl

I’ll say one thing about the original post tho:
I’ve dated an effeminate guy who liked dressing like a girl, acting like a girl, behaving like a girl and fulfilling the role of a girl. And I’ve also dated a trans person who had an effeminate body but preferred me to treat them like a homie, dressed like a guy, had most of the habits and mannerisms of a dude but wanted to be referred to by female pronouns. The difference between them was preference. And this is why conversations like these are mostly moot; Ultimately, it boils down to preference. The guy did not care one shit about SRS, wanted to keep his penis, wanted to be identified with male pronouns and didn’t care about doing any sort of HRT. The second person despite being much more boyish than the first, in many ways, still wanted SRS. Even though to any outsider they’d look like a normal dude - a semi twink at best.

the TLDR is that The nuance is lost in these threads which end up dominated by a few outspoken individuals who have their own staunch view on the matter

There are parts in the brain connected with self-identity and body image in trans women that are in the female pattern rather than the male pattern. For a femboy those parts are going to be in the male pattern, for a trans woman they're going to be in the female pattern.
