Hello
I am the scary trans teacher everyone warns you about. Except I'm not scary, nor am I harming your kids. Actually I am working my butt off to make sure they meet all of the requirements the school system requires for them to continue moving up In school and succeeding and thriving.
Very rarely does my being transgender come up, and if/when it does, it is rapidly addressed in an appropriate way for that child depending on thier age and understanding level. Then we move on back to the activity we were doing beforehand. Usually we cant move on quick enough.
Kids are non judgemental. They don't care. They just want to be happy.
On the subject of trans kids, yes, they exist.
No, not every little boy that wants to play with Barbies ans wear a princess dress is trans and not every Tom boy girl is trans just because they don't conform with gender stereotypes.
This does not mean trans children dont exist though. The hardest thing we can do to them is ignore thier struggles.
Gender dysphoria is a real and damaging issue to have to face and gender affirming care has been proven to be the best, most effective treatment.
No, this doesn't mean immediately putting them on hormones or hormone blockers and giving them major surgeries.
This starts with acknowledgment, dressing in a way that better represents them, name change, and just being supportive and listening.
Just like the conversation about it, the process takes quite a long time, involves many therapists and psychologists visits and sign offs, and has to be done age appropriately and that treatment changes as that age changes.
This world is complicated. Our relationships with our bodies are complicated.
Understanding goes a long way.

I know there will be some assumptions made, especially about my being trans. I am going to wait and see if they happen amd then will correct/clarify.

I guess AMA

how long have you been teaching? if it’s more than 5 years, has covid had a drastic effect on how kids learn and behave? i notice you said “depending on their age”, have you taught a variety of different grades throughout your career, or do you just work in like an elementary school as a specific subject’s teacher, so you just have kids of a relatively wide variety of ages?

Why enter a field as thankless and soul-crushing as teaching?

I have been teaching for 7 years, a variety of ages but mainly pre k but some tutoring/homeschooling help for first through fifth for basic topics reading, math, writing, sciences, etc
Yes covid massively changed how kids learn but each generation of child learns differently to be fair. It's just about adaptation as a teacher.

The same reason anyone takes an underpaying job. A passion and love for what they do as well as the feeling of doing good and helping your community and the next generation. I feel it's our obligation to set them up for success.

Stop being sexist and enforcing gender roles. Boys and girls can wear anything and have any name. You think you're helping but you're part off the problem. You are confusing children.

I literally said just because they dont follow gender norms or want to change thier name doesn't automatically make them trans
That also doesn't mean zero trans children exist. Getting those that are transgender the proper gender affirming care is essential to thier health and development
