At some point during the 20th century it was decided that 'experts' should be required to achieve just about anything, because otherwise people might make bad decisions.
It's all bullshit. Addictive substances are one thing, but in my mind people should be able to buy things like HRT, anabolic steroids, and tretinoin by simply signing a waiver.
