that's not how it works. what you know about the occult is slander.
it's just a form of pattern recognition and storytelling. a famous example is newton devoting more of his time and energy to alchemy than science. what is "slander" is that people see this as a waste or misdirection without realizing it's what made it possible for him to make all the discoveries he's recognized for.
another example is fight club. normies only see the surface, maybe have a hunch that there's more to the story, but gay people are masters at subtext and metaphor because we have to be to survive.

I accidentally became a witch following losing all my money and choosing social isolation. No one knows I'm like this. My appearance (poc, gayden) is enough to make most people forget I have full conversations with a cat who monitors me while working on my craft, potion and tailsman creation, the unusually fast growing plants, digging up dead animals for later, and my affinity for all black clothing while burning heaps of wood whenever the moon isn't easily visible

My greargrandmother was a witch, ever since I was in my mother's womb she detected the problems I'd run into, I was born dead and they kept me in an incubator for 2 months, after that they gave me 5 years of life expectancy, I would faint randomly, the doctors kept me on meds but were never optimist about my outcome so my mother allowed my greatgrandma to "cure" me, I made it to 5 but sometime later she was no longer able to take all the bad energies and taught my mother some techniques but just that, never introduced her to anything as far as I know, she died not too long after that and all her knowledge died with her.
My mother really liked telling me these story so I became obsessed with the occult, well that and my grandpa but that was different a kind of occult.

I have been studying and practicing the occult for 13 years now
It's been a bit up and down, as with all things
But I'd say overall pretty successful
I have devoted my life to these things and it still blows my mind whenever a ritual "works"

yeah. it works. when i was just starting out i was irresponsible and had an accident though. im a lot better in the practice now though and responsible.
my specialties are necromancy and divination. I observe the tides rather than try to control them because of how badly it blew up in my face before. i can do things like remote viewing and astral projection to talk with entities.

Ive never understood how actual occult practitioners "work" when occultism/western esotercism is a mishmash of so many different things that it feels like trying to determine an underlying truth is impossible. Especially now much medieval magic is claimed to be ancient that isn't, or just the staggering amount of charlatans in general. I still think it's fascinating anthropologically though

I would say the most "impressive" spell I ever did was a love (cough obsession) spell on my very first boyfriend, when I was 16. For the past 10 years- every year without fail -he will contact me and offer me thousands of dollars for sex, or suggest some kind of sugar baby situation. I have never accepted.
