First of all, I'm not shaming anyone who doesn't pass. It's not their fault. I'm shaming people who don't pass and believe they pass and they filter out all incidents that indicate they don't pass.
For the most part, passing is not within our control. The just-world fallacy is widespread and prevalent in trans circles. Trans people will tell you that if you don't pass, it must be your fault because you haven't put effort into your transition. More often than not, this is bullshit, and it's a type of victim-blaming attitude that stems from the false belief that working hard pays off. It's like telling a 4'11'' man that if he's short, it's because he hasn't put effort into his height. Do you see how stupid that is? People absolutely hate acknowledging the fact that most of what happens to us is out of our control. This is also why obese people are shamed. It's much easier and more convenient to shame them and blame them for their poor eating habits instead of acknowledging that they might have hormonal issues that cause obesity, no matter how much they diet.
There is only so much you can do to alter your phenotype. More often than not, FFS is not sufficient to completely feminize your face, and not because of the surgeon's fault, simply because most male characteristics on your face cannot be completely eradicated.
