The claim isn't that Stonewall wasn't important, El Rarto. What we're saying is that the narrative about the riot being started or fuelled by trans women is an easily-checked falsehood. It was kicked off by a lesbian (Stormé DeLarverie, the bouncer at the Stonewall Inn) and performed/sustained by gay men. The presence of trannies was minimal and insignificant. Despite this being well known to everyone who's the least bit serious about LGBT history, the narrative that gay men and somehow lesbians owe trannies for doing Stonewall is insanely heavily pushed by various orgs and activist groups. This is frustrating both in itself since persistent falsehood is annoying and retarded, and because this kind of horseshit from our own orgs makes those orgs look inherently deceptive and/or ridiculously ill-informed, which lowers the credibility of associated claims and demands. Pushing this shit actively makes the movement worse and yet they continue to insist on doing it.
