No actually, I do understand the story as an extended metaphor for people persecuting other people’s hardships in order to breed more suffering instead of investing in a clean, enjoyable life where there needn’t be sides to take, and Eto as a symbol of overindulgence justified by the hardships that could’ve been avoided; that doesn’t mean I cannot find a character’s framing and personality relatable.
