i think pronouns/names are not a hill to die on with relatives especially. a lot of people are egotistical weirdos who will be supportive up until the millisecond you ask them to change their behavior the tiniest bit. if it's someone they've known/raised since birth there are also usually a lot of sunk emotions and pride there that are not worth fighting against.
