I actually have my suspicions gege and fujimoto are both women, but i don't have any proof. i think there's just a lot of yaoi potential in modern battle shonen (angel and aki, geto and gojo, etc.), so that attracts a lot of women to the genre (pretty sure fujimoto recommended some yaoi in his twitter account at some point). yaoi is the most fembrained thing in existence. yuri is the most malebrained thing in existence. this truth explains everything.
