Almost definitely not true either. A lot of Roman history is gossip and absurd political slander. Cassius Dio, the primary source who writes decades after Elagabalus died, would slander emperors he hated by coming up with the most insane, depraved stories imaginable. He hated him in particular because he was foreign and worshipped the foreign Syrian sun god Elagabal. The Historia Augusta, the other primary source on his life which describes his cross dressing, is outright satire and fiction.

It's so funny, the emperors that were dislikes were insultingly called gay and now in modern times people look up to them as gay/trans icons

(of course they were not called literally gay as the term didn't exist then)

Basically yes. Historians basically recognize a lot of this stuff as slander and gossip, the ancient equivalent of Republicans saying Michelle Obama is a tranny, and modern LGBT activists run with it to retcon whole parts of Roman history so they can claim thereโ€™s some transhistoricity afoot. But itโ€™s literally all bullshit.
