I love the alternative styling and super long hair but do those people actually get hired in industry? I'm saying this because I'm not a humanities sort of person but I'd like to try growing my hair out really long. Im concerned that some employers are gonna not hire me because of it though.

I mean if it is tech I got hired pre-transition and then transitioned and it was no issue. No clue how it is when you are trying to get a job though so maybe wait until you are hired, but I would rather be happy so maybe just transition now. The sooner the better you know

being a tranny is going to severely lower the glass wall and close many doors. I've managed to survive so far but I'm always worried about losing my job. I've had six jobs since transitioning. I know I've been railroaded out of interviews for not passing on two occasions.

It's computer engineering, so maybe more in-person work.

i'm not interested in passing I just wanna grow my hair out a ton but I know from interview experience that people hiring might filter you because you don't look like you are going to put in the work or some other prejudice

I suppose if I'm good enough it shouldn't really matter what I look like too much

I lived all my life in two neighbouring European countries. Both are EU and NATO members now. You won't get a job and neither will people rent you if they find out you are gay even if you are cis and not fruity at all, let alone if someone is trans or anything else that's not conventional. It's not the Netherlands and France, that's all I will tell you.

I mean that was my degree, and yeah it is a lot of in person work but it is nice to socialize with people. Though I don't work in big tech so it could be different there but I have found most companies actually are pretty good hiring though I do avoid answering any questions related to gender and the like for extra caution :)

I'm in the states on the Northeast. Interesting hearing that said about Europe. I know Russia would be hard on lgbt and those matters but wasn't expecting something on a larger scale.

Okay, interesting. I could honestly just lie on the questions part, idrc
