It really did. We had binary and non-binary trans people all over, reasonably happy, getting better places in society, and then cis women on tumblr desperate for a reason to call their skinny white female body oppressed got a sniff of us.

The average image of a "trans" person is no longer someone trans to the average person. It's a bizarre and dangerous cis woman with a rainbow dash mullet screaming at you to fall in line. It's a clownish cis man demanding to have your middle school daughter hold it while he pees. Both not only refuse to seek medical transition, but actively work against the ability to ever transition medically because they've relabeled our healthcare as somehow hateful against "us", because it's invalidating to them and questions whether they really should be in our spaces or represent us. Trans people and why we should have rights got erased out of our own movement for why we exist and should have rights. I'd call it genius for what they were able to pull off if I wasn't so negatively effected by it.
