I think you actually need to study Gnosticism before opening your mouth, because it sounds like you have at best a Wikipedia level understanding of it.
Gnosticism has existed in plenty of contexts before. The "pagan" substrate in Eugnostos the Blessed hints pretty directly at a Gnosticism that was grounded western polytheism. To say nothing of Manicheanism in china, that progressively harmonized itself with the polytheistic context there.
