hormone levels off i think?
my doctor told me to stop taking my bica at our last appointment and im noticing that my sweat is starting to smell acrid and oniony again, im assuming this is cause my t levels are going back up right? because i couldnt really smell my sweat for a while. im probably gonna start taking bica again (theyve kept filling it so i have plenty) but I wanted to ask some others before i do anything. im taking 8mg estradiol a day btw, 4mg in the morning, 4mg in the evening, buccally.

>picrel
I should play more Nucleares.
>rest of OP
You stopped taking anti-androgens, and you are asking if that means your androgen levels are going to go back up?
Hmm... It's a mystery...

yeah i guess its dumb i just thought my doctor wouldn't have taken me off it unless he thought my levels would be good

I mean, did you ask why he was recommending that? It could be side effects showing up on urinalysis and stuff.
So he could be prioritizing one aspect of your health over the other. In which case, your opinion does matter somewhat and you should state clearly if you have a preference since he can't really see into your mind on quality-of-life shit. How does he know whether you are more afraid of kidney/liver damage, or of self-harm over gender dysphoria?

Switch to injections, they'll suppress your testosterone by themselves

i have been pretty much just sticking to whatever he says to do, I'm not very outspoken (which may be a mistake). the appointment was a few months back but I don't remember him saying it was having any negative effects on my bloodwork.

I'm pretty happy with where I am at currently as a theymab lol. I don't want to get my levels extremely high. My E is at around 85 pg/mL which he says is good but idk. main thing is I don't like the testosterone being high.

look i don't mean to dismiss your experience or anything but it's nearly impossible to accurately judge hormone levels from smell especially your own especially when you have a huge confirmation bias risk here
meanwhile bicalatumide is very strong but girls do have both a scent and testosterone
>>41598504
it's not so simple because the estrogen itself would suppress testosterone production
>>41598553
it is a potentially unnecessary load on the liver/kidneys
>>41600091
that's not very high but that's also not a horrible steady-state if testosterone isn't going to right back up in which case you'll have done great removing a needless medicine

the reason i get concerned is because i remember not being able to smell my sweat at all while I was on bica, and its been slowly coming back and now its a lot more noticeable. maybe im overthinking idk.

It is! In general the rule of thumb is that doctors have no idea what they are talking about and many of them consider transition negative and bad and to be avoided/minimised. They are not our friends. Your specific doctor in this instance might have gave good advice like idk your levels or his reasoning. But more widely learn to stand up for yourself and take agency over your own care because doctors want you to be a man. They think the ideal situation is you not taking HRT, if it can be helped, and the second best situation is you taking as little as possible.

maybe i should... im gonna message my doctor and see what he has to say.

>>41600219
i know thats the case for a lot of doctors, but I know for a fact it isn't for mine. he actually upped my E after the last appointment, and has always been open to what I have to say and want(i just rarely have much to say lol). and the clinic itself seems to be doing their best to stay accessible to people (I live in the US).

Oh okay you should have said you had the one example where the rule doesn't apply

No bitch the rule still applies to good doctors lol. Doctors as a class are not our friends. If you have a good one, great! Thats lucky. Still know that they are a risk to you lol, stay on your toes. And learn to stick up for yourself. Good doctors can become bad doctors. And its better to learn how to deal with potential bad doctors now by learning to be assertive, instead of later when you have a doctor trying to fuck with you.

Totally unsurprising sadly :(
