Is he the most important political and legal writer in the West right now? Everybody basically bends to Schmitt's will. Both the Left and the Right across all countries observe the friend/enemy distinction. They are all in Schmitt's thrall, they obey him even if they publicly disavow him. Schmitt is the god of modern politics in the West, everything he wrote is prescient.

Everything Thucydides wrote is "prescient" - politics is actually simple, not complicated.
It's ok when we do it. That's it.

Top kek. This isn't public disavowal while secretly following him. You'll get the occasional reference in China and even that highly ambivalent.
I am not saying this is either a good or bad thing but he's irrelevant in the west. Already in academic circles, even more so in actual political impact. How many states are currently organized based on his theory of consittution? Pro-tip: zero.
If anything he had his "revival" in the west due to the global war on terror™, but that's gone now.
