It doesn't. This book is a waste of time.
>>24459804 (OP)When you blast it with a .45
>>24459804 (OP)after letting it sit on my shelf for 10 years, i'm finally selling my copy to half price books
>>24459804 (OP)For me, it got good around thirty pages into reading the book. That's when he starts to describe the guy addicted to dope and he's waiting for some woman to come and deliver it. The tension he creates in those pages was enough to keep me hooked and patiently wait for this particular character to show up again. I'm around 100 pages in and I think it's getting there.
>>24460012For me it was the chapter long footnote about the student plagiarizing the article about the children who play a game involving jumping in front of a moving train
>>24459804 (OP)I stopped where the guy talked about the weed to woman was supposed to bring him, it was very repetitive. I read a few paragraphs of the next chapter but it seemed like more characters and layers to feign depth, might pick it back up at some point
>>24459804 (OP)I’m about 800 pages through my first read of it. It’s awesome but I can see why people would hate it
>>24460017Isn't that one of the last endnotes?
Unironically you need to reread it to enjoy it. Also age ten years
>>24459804 (OP)it's only good if it comes from a girl. if it comes from online or a guy it's not good.
>>24460104It is but footnote 39 references it so you read it pretty early
this book doesnt make sense. if hal is so emotionally anorexic why doesn't he just kiss pemulis? that doesn't require any messy verbal communication. he obviously wants him in a weird parasitic way, thats his The Other, like he could just kiss him??? and get that connection right?? this book is stupid
>>24461999you might as well ask why he's not actually friends with Axworthy who only wants to see him doped up
