What are some modern Russian (fiction) books worth reading? If any. I'm looking for post-Soviet books that tackle late-90s/early 2000s Russian federation life.

Something with a vibe similar to the films Brother (1997) and Lilya 4-ever (2002) if any of you have seen those

I took a class on this exact thing in undergrad. I’ll try to dig up the reading list for you.
There is a post Soviet-play called black milk that I really enjoyed. Felt very бpaт-like in themes. You might want to check it out
Moscow to the end of the line isn’t post-Soviet but I think much of it applies to 90s Russia.

I read Moscow-Petushki years ago and didn't finish it. I was only a kid then and probably didn't appreciate it that much. I've seen it talked about on here quite a few times and people seem to praise it so I think I'll give it a second shot.

Would be much appreciated

How many of them are translated to English?

Also, your photo reminds me of certain porn... if you know, you know. I see the torrent is still available.

Russians would be censoring anything pertaining to it that diverts from the image they want to portray and imprisoning anyone who offers a ant-Russian perspective. Ukrainians would be doing the same but also torturing and imprisoning the people involved or forcing them to fight under pain of death.

Enough was said before “current conflicts”. See, for example,

You are confusing the whole country the state, as presented in media. Only those puppet shows display such simple causes and effects. If you believe that wars follow some “ideals” or “orders from above”, read Babchenko's stories. Not a lot has changed since then.

Picrel is libertarian as fuck. There might be a Putin portrait in my room because of my unhinged boomer dad, wanting to politicise everything about private life, but I can still love and fuck and make him nothing but a cuckold spectator of the unpoliticised dimension of my life.

same. My mom hanged Putin portrait and I when I jerk off he's staring at me. And I at him.
Got to the point where I literally feel embarassed when I see the man on TV or news because it evoked all the time I spent jerking off glancing at his portrait
