Read more. Just slowly do longer sessions. Go from ten to twenty to thirty; of course it depends on how busy your schedule is, you may need to do three ten minute sessions instead of one thirty minute session. The other thing is to get excited about what you're reading, think about it sometimes when you're not reading, and that'll make it easier to pick it up if you've got some time instead of taking out your phone and shit posting here.

Spend more time reading to read more pages. Instead of reading 10 pages a day, read 12 pages a day. Then if you want to read more, read 15 pages a day.

The other thing is that some books are slower to read than others. Try reading an easier book and see if you read it faster than whatever you're reading now.

The important thing is to remember to have fun!

Why not focus on the content instead? Or perhaps on the time you're dedicating to reading. Some books are meant to be read slower than others, and the character of the reader is important too, I suppose.

Anon it’s not a race. You unironically have a lifetime. Embrace it, chew on it. I read at a snail’s pace but I laid out the books I’d like to read and have a schedule through 2027. Many average people do not read at all, let alone seriously engage with the classics. It’s supposed to be fun anon. have fun.

Reading is a skill. Partly its a mark of your intelligence, but most of it is just training yourself to read and retain information. 10 pages in a session feels slow now, but after you finish several books, you'll find yourself reading 12 pages a session, then 15, then 20, and before you know it, you're reading at a quick pace. Just relax, get some tea, coffee, or some soda or whatever else you like to drink and chill. You'll get there in time.

I dont read pages. I read chapters from beginning to end.
How do you read 10 pages in the middle of a chapter and just stop?

10 pages is about 20 minutes' work of reading, you fucking lightweight.
Try reading better books, that motivate you to read further.

Reading speed is largely dependant on the flow of the individual book

I've read 400-600 page books in a day, but taken weeks to read books that are barely 100 pages long

So if it's a book that flows easily, where you can just kind of fall into a trance and get through huge chunks of it, just keep reading it

But if it's a slower book with denser prose you might need to designate time to read it, like set a 20 minute timer everyday

What helped me is deciding to read instead of looking at my phone (within reason). Waiting room? Read a book. Break at work? Read. Then, once I was working my way through books quicker, I started having a 50-page requirement every day. Now I almost schedule it like a chore, I'll delay doing things I'd otherwise be doing because I hadn't hit the 50 pages yet. So like, my buddy wants to play Helldivers and I've only read 35 pages. No Helldivers for me, I gotta knock out those last 15.

But I've also found that, while attempting to knock out those 50 pages, I'm having more fun than I would have playing videogames or watching a movie, so I read a lot more than the 50.

Read what you just wrote. It's insanity. You want to be doing other things but you're forcing yourself to read. Why do you force yourself to read? If you don't want to read then don't read.

Fucking hell the lack of self awareness is astounding. You typed an entire paragraph and still have no clue that you don't want to read. Amazing.

>50 pages criteria
Why? Are you even absorbing the information or are you simply reading for bragging rights?
