What's the point of reading about it when you're already in it?

It‘s the sun-catching time of the year. Better to be running at the track when I can but if I don‘t have that kind of time in the morning a sedentary activity while catching a few rays is a good supplement.

I‘ve been reading Suttree when I go to the park because it feels adventurous. Maybe when autumn comes I‘ll switch to reading it in the woods.

yes, I did today. And finished my book.
I first sat on a bench by the lake. Couple benches over was some Reggae dude. He played hotel california on his guitar, humming the vocals, which was nice. He then played his bongos, alternated the two instruments for a while before settling for his bongos and drumming the most repetitive and mind numbing pattern he could come up with. I had to leave after 3 minutes, I could still hear him going in the distance by the time I vacated the park.
Then I sat by a tree, and lied down uncomfortably, with insects crawling all over and finished my book.
That is the blogpost, thank you.

A book is the perfect excuse to "not notice" people outside that would mistakenly think I want company when I'm sitting by myself on a bench to soak in some rays after getting slightly high.
Worst are these annoying people that don't get the hint when I'm holding a book on my lap and keep pestering me with some uninteresting thing they did two decades ago in the misguided attempt to impress me for some reason. No, nigger, why are you burdening me with your average experience, forcing me to "be nice" and listen to your narcissistic ramblings, clearly not interested in conversation since I can't get a single word in? I don't mind listening to interesting people's monologues but a dude discovering 3D-printing in 2025 is not it, sorry not sorry.
And yes, I know some of you guys have nothing better to do than satisfying your voyeuristic tendencies and no, I don't give a single shit about any of you fuckers.

If I had a back deck I would hang out these all the time, reading books in peace while stroking the fur of a dog with my bare feet.

I used to, and enjoy it if I am somewhere nice, although my town has been overrun with loud foriegners. Just the other day I found a Penguin Classics edition of Euridipes' plays. Cracked it open, attempted to read the preface but was unable to concentrate as the urbanised music coming from a group of people some distance away from me was just too loud.

I read out on my deck when it's sunny. Sometimes I'll play hookey from work for 2 or 3 hours and go to this tiny state park by me. They have some benches and tables there that are almost always empty with nobody around. It overlooks a lake and is on a slight hill. It's pretty comfy but I'm always interrupted by work calls or having to rush home to handle some bullshit. Better than nothing, though!

I tried to read in the train but too many nigger were talking loud so I rather listen to my music with my fist clinched, waiting to get back home to read Le Père Goriot in peace.

where do you live that people come up to you randomly and start pestering you with monologues? Maybe take it as a compliment that you look like an approachable person, but still sounds annoying to have to listen to some nonsense

They think your me. I usually shut my book if a retard is trying to talk to me. I like to see them try so I'm always very patient whether they're five or fifty.

Maybe put the books down for a while and lift some weights or engage in any kind of physical activity. If you're on the internet talking about how hard it is for you to keep a book open you've got bigger problems than reading.

I found that reading outside is more fun with an ebook reader. Wind? No issue. Access to tons of material on a whim? You got it. Weird smelling used books? Nuh uh.

Books were not meant to be read outside. Historically speaking books were rare and kept indoors at all times. The elements can damage them.
