Would /lit/ know a good book to read about quantum computing? Say starting from the basics of quantum mechanics and moving its way up to it?

In the future, we won't even need computers. It will be so small that it won't actually exist except as pure computational energy.
But then, if all tech is virtually that small, then it means that time flows backwards. For if Technology is that small then it means that we don't actually exist within light and have resembled the conditions for the big bang.

Just read a few chapters of introductory quantum by Shankar (though you should really read the whole thing). He does finite dimensional Hilbert spaces to start, which is perfect. Then Nielsen and Chuang, and maybe a review article on topological quantum error correction, like the one by Bombin.

I read that when a child (my dad had been reading it and I picked it up) and remember being mesmerized; I read Bertrand Russell's ABC of Relativity that Summer as a kind of companion volume, which is remarkably clear as well, sans the Buddhism shill, but then Relativity's more like the solution to a 'brain teaser' than a specialized religious view of the world, or that was my 14 yo take aar

>she made some awkward posts lusting over her white dad
Where are these posts?
Whenever she mentions or posts her dad, she just talks about how bad ass she thinks he is. That's not lusting, most kids think their dads are bad ass.

Pic rel is THE standard textbook on quantum computing. It covers basics of both QM and computation theory in the first chapters to make the topic accessible for both physicists and computer scientists.
Contrary to popular belief you don't need an indepth understanding of QM on the same level as a physicist to get into quantum computing. Since QC only deals with binary observables the more intricate details of infinite dimensional Hilbert spaces or quantum fields are not a prerequisite. For the most part you'll be fine with naive linear algebra in finite dimensions.

And it's boring as shit

> yay, qubits!
> wow, hadamard gate!!
> omg, Bloch spheres!!!

Baaaarf. Good for anyone who enjoys this drivel. But yeah, it IS "the book" on the topic, but if you've had a graduate level quantum mechanics course and didn't GPT your way through it you should be able to read it like a novel.

But I'll take the novel over this, any day.

the OP has very clearly not, so your post is just useless dick flexing
i've been in the rare environment where high school students were being taught the basics of quantum computing and a few were able to do well enough in competitions (ctf, industry programming challenges, etc.) so in terms of zero to hero it's a great book imo

> Oh no, he knows about the topic that the OP asked about, he must be dick waving!!!! He even states an opinion contrary to mine!
> Let me do the same thing by talking about genius high schoolers and obliquely signalling my own position of authority!

OP got the book recommendation, he can buy or download it and read the introduction, and then let it sit performatively on his shelf like everyone else on this board. Or, if he's really going to learn, he now has the tools to do so and even has a couple of opinions (from BOTH OF US) in the back of his head. The people who want to learn will figure out how to learn regardless of naysayers.

Ultimately, this is a fiction board, not a tech or science board, so it's not on topic anyway.
