As a rule of thumb, I never read books by the authors who killed themselves.
If they did it, that means they had a poisoned, crippled mind that hated life and only saw the worst in it. So anything they wrote was either:
>doomer propaganda meant to bring others down alongside them
>shallow moralizing that they themselves ended up not believing in
There is no purpose in reading things made by such people. Enjoying such work, you will only end up repeating their mistakes.
To be an admirable writer, one must be an adrimable person. Committing suicide is the most clear-cut declaration of your work being worthless one could make.

An admirable sentiment but it doesn’t go far enough.

Obviously it’s sensible to reject authors who killed themselves. But what about authors who clearly SHOULD have killed themselves but just lacked the balls? They're even worse than the ones who actually went through with it.

Yes, Kafka, I'm looking at you.

Mishima is the exception. He was so much of a fag that he wanted his manly body to forever remain youthful. He also coomed reenacting it and was probably very happy during the final day

Ok. but for Hemingway he had brain problem at the end and was in pain from two plane crashes. He was a different person mentally before that.

Sakakiyama Tomotsu's (an anonymous pen name for Mishima) Worse for Love lays out his intentions with his suicide as clear as can be. That work is the companion to Patriotism, and contextualizes the work, explaining that his entire political character is a homosexual theater act, a pretension that justifies his fetish for violence in the public eye. His "right wing" politics is a very perverse joke, but no dull reactionary who claims to have read him can understand that they're just praising the purely depraved ideations of a great homosexual. Confessions of a Mask lays this ideation out more clearly as well. Mishima was supremely lonely, and premised his life off his ability to be seen as a virile beautiful creature to a general public. Once he hit 45 and was no longer able to retain his muscle mass, he killed himself in the culmination of his theatre performance to achieve orgasm and not risk physically withering away in the public eye

Might as well go a step further and reject the authors you could beat in a fight, because there's no point arguing with the weak. looking at you, Anne Frank

In other words, he was a real man who knew how to manipulate the masses and realized the inevitable struggle of masculinity with age, that is the mistake that was letting people have longer lifespans than 40.

This post smells like a stack of self-help books with an occasional thin Dostoyevsky thrown into the mix because instagram told you he's in fashion these days. You can go on chasing inhuman concepts or you can get down in the mud and shit with the rest of the adults.
