Imagine looking at a guy's bookshelf and seeing

>DFW
>Pynchon
>Joyce
>Turgenev and maybe some other Russians
>Nabokov
>Hitchens
>Lovecraft
>Dahl
>a few history books
>a few scifi or fantasy books

>no female authors
>nothing to project softness, emotional depth, or even a simple openness to life

You just know he's reading for reputation, superiority over connection. A purely internal life.

All of the above authors have more real softness, emotional depth and a "simple openess to life" (whatever tf that means lol dumb bitch) than any dreck shat out by a woman.

A guy forcing himself to read female authors so he can appear to have "emotional depth" to women is a gazillion times more retarded and shallow than a guy only reading male authors simply because thats where his interests naturally lie

Most fiction is gay, and most works I have interest in have male authors.

Maybe Belle Hooks, or Hannah Arendt, but I don't think I'd even consider any other female authors

You said DFW
Pynchon
Joyce
and Nabokov.

I'd be more worried about his collection of novels by the pedophile Dahl. Also you didn't mention which scholarly bibles he owns

No such thing. You're either looking at one-offs like Mary Shelley, some 100-year wonder like Jane Austen, or children's authors. Everything else is feminist drivel, overhyped nonsense, or smut, or any combination thereof.

When I was young? I honestly thought the PC crowd, their heart was in the right place. Why shouldn't the best qualified get the job, even if they weren't white. What harm is there in a woman owning a business, or having some big important job. It made sense, to ignore skin color or sex. Made sense to me.
>
The first obama election changed me.
Anon! You;re raycist, is you don;t vote for the first black president!
But... I don't believe in his party or his vision? And its racist to vote for someone, solely based on his skin color!
(old black men? AGREED with me!)
I *have* read and enjoyed some female authors.
But, it has to be enjoyable. A... female FBI agent, wonder woman style? constantly spouting woke speeches, all business owners a different race and everything? Was just SILLY. I HAVE and can describe, a couple female written, female MC books, Ienjoyed, just not many.
>
Notice: Just like viting for skin color alone (racist), you would have me read books that are not well writte and enjoyable? simply because of the sex of the author.
That? Is sexist, in and of itself.
If "WOKE", wouldn;t have gone this far?
I'd still be on board.
You people went nuts and lost the naarative.
Blacks and women and other monorities? CAN be just as good or even better, than any straight white male. But... to assume they are somehow inerently superior, just because... minority?
is both silly? And the exact opposiye, of what this stuff was intended to corect.
You assholes threw the baby out with the bathwater. You are LOSING, the intelligent people that agreed with you, and helped champion your supposedly noble cause.

Wish I still had my collection from Australia, had most of /lit/ top 100, though I only managed to read a handful. Only currently have Gravityโ€™s Rainbow (2 copies lol), AtD and M&D by Pinecone, The Brothers Karamazov by Dosty, Divine Comedy by Dante, One Hundred Years of Solitude by Marquez, and Don Quixote by Cervantes. I have only read GR by Pinecone so far, but Iโ€™m reading AtD and am on page 75 (got this and Don Quixote on Saturday)
