are there any dramas that actually show how fucked modernity it? Im writing a comic that I sorta want to be a modern taxi driver in a sense with a hopeless main character (working at McDonalds with a software degree, spends most of his free time doing series of interviews for companies, and getting rejected after the 5th round of interviews, or just ghosted).

I feel like everything modern is just so fucking fake, and theres nothing that captures what I feel. I mean people think The Boys is a good parody, but its beyond awful

Modernity is incredibly hard to describe. I think its the idea that it seems your life is hopeless, meaningless, that it is potentially going to be like this forever (until we (humanity) kill ourselves), and that you probably cant do anything about it, or even comfort yourself.

Yeah probably, that's just meant to be the setup for one of our main characters, and to give him reason to start the plot. I didn't want him to be super obvious with his hopelessness, but for him to be a suckup to the system, like Syril Karn from Andor (picrels before I had his character fully written out)

I did an opening chapter for it at the start of the year, but I didn't like my art, so I've just spent alot of time practicing my art and writing short stories, and Im now 15 pages into a more medium sized comic.

Posted the scene on IC a bit ago, although its pretty embarrassing looking back, at least I can use it to measure my progress though

So ill probably get back to picrel, in a few years once I've finished my other comic, so it should have better writing and art, and I'll try to make it more subtle and hopefully feel more real too.
