Americans don't ban books. Not in the way other countries do. "Banning" a book in America merely means it's not available in libraries, either public or school. You're still free to distribute the book however else you like. You can sell it in book stores, online, or simply give it away to people if you don't care about making money.

All a book "ban" does in the US is exclude the book from government distribution and preservation.

The Roman Empire banned Christianity and persecuted Christians with violent public tortures and executions, and usually afforded people very little legal protection from such punishments. It's not meant to be a realistic "what if", but I wouldn't expect such a thing to happen through the political process as it currently exists. Politics hasn't been working for us and we're increasingly aware it works against us by design and is potentially incapable if working for us.
