You have no idea what you're talking about. Those aren't suited for longform physical reading at all, and accordingly very few books are published with those typefaces. It's not even a matter of taste; a book set in TNR is a result of laziness and/or incompetence.

To find an entire book rendered in Arial, a sans-serif font intended for computer screens, you'll have to be digging deep in schizo/crank selfpub hell.

For drafting?
Whatever the default is.

Same with general post, emails, and other such communications.

I think the only time I bother to change the font is when doing graphic design and motion graphics once in a blue moon. In which case it totally depends on the vibe of the project.

Garamond and Times New Roman are goated in their own respects.
So is Arial for its basic readability.
Courier New can be fun as a monofont.

It's not an opinion. It's a statement of (supposed) fact.

oh shit I totally forgot about MB Type fonts
https://mbtype.com/
Iโ€™m a big fan of Valkyrie and Heliotrope (especially the italic of the latter)
Concourse is good too, especially if you want something just a little bit condensed
I want to like Triplicate but I donโ€™t
for monospace fonts I like Berkeley Mono but use MonoLisa

Literata Book
I try other fonts on my e-reader from time to time: Bookerly is nice and very similar, Iowan Old Style - another garamondish font, Caecilia for some futuristic look. But always come to Literata.

Once opened a book printed in Arial (Asimov - Foundation), such a pathetic look. Dogshit translation too.

Arial. It's a habit I haven't shaken since school.
