>navigates both the individual & group boundaries of various competing wills
now this would impressive!
instead Stirner's best is being a contrarian to wills and assuming that his will (ego) would emerge de facto; while in reality you just become slave to your bodily passions at the expense of your noetic and spiritual capacities (you might ignore other egos, but they don't ignore you).
at worse, you exist as a stochastic will of whimsy with no real coherent & contingent worldview. every choice a coin flip.
it's budget solipsism.

I am what I do, and I do what’s best. What’s “want” got to do with any of it?

I broke with my emotionally and financially abusive parents earlier this year. Getting over a "natural bond" and accepting that it doesn't necessarily have to exist between us so that I could finally leave them behind me was not easy. The whole effort reminded me of much in Stirner.
It's so sad to see my own parents basically go against every tenet and principle they imprinted upon me since childhood for their own selfish benefit at my expense.

Okay. I want to do the good and right thing, and I want my actions to have meaning and/or aspire to something beyond myself and the material world. Now what?

a non-sequitur existence.
a life that doesn't make sense if one were to try to make reason out of it.
you can compare stochastic worldviews to determined worldviews (and I often do).

"The interested and informed citizen can congratulate himself on his lofty state of interest and information, and neglect to see that he has abstained from decision and action. In short, he takes his secondary contact with the world of political reality, his reading and listening and thinking, as a vicarious performance. He comes to mistake knowing about problems of the day for doing something about them. His social conscience remains spotlessly clean. He is concerned. He is informed. And he has all sorts of ideas as to what should be done. But, after he has gotten through his dinner and after he has listened to his favored radio programs and after he has read his second newspaper of the day, it is really time for bed."
