I am not a sexist but women engaging in the literary world always seems a bit strange to me
Maybe I really have the patriarchy ingrained in my DNA

fFuck you bitches, but I enjoy Edith Wharton and Elizabeth Biishop. The former for her sheer critical bitchiness, the latter for being lovable as she pretended not to be. Marianne Moore is also to my taste, but I'll not account for it.

Edith and Flannery are both terrific.

I would add Willa Cather (one of America's best novelists) and Joan Didion (great essayist).

man what a waste of time Cioran was. the signs were there too. when a book is getting quickly popular among girls you can be certain it's trash.

Middlemarch was my entry into literature. I just randomly decided to walk into a book store one day and it was one of the few good decisions I made in my life.

Agree with that ranking, though Villette is better than all three you listed.
