Aquinas's Third Way, from contingency, suggests that since all contingent beings eventually cease to exist, there must be a necessary being that always exists. What alternative explanations can be offered for the existence of contingent beings, particularly the universe itself, that do not require an ultimate necessary being? For example, is "existence from nothing" a more coherent concept for you than a necessary being?
