Will books regain importance once the internet has become 100% meaningless AI slop that has been consumed and regurgitated a million times by other models like defective genes in the Habsburg family?
I grilled my phone's AI for half an hour yesterday about how it and google obviously store everything and got it to eventually admit that it does store portions of our conversation it has access to through the app it's wrapped in to add context to future interactions, and then it wiped an active conversation and just started spitting out the same boilerplate response to repeated inquiry. Books will become meaningless because peoples attention span will diminish to about 10 seconds.
Instead of reading they'll just have AI give a summary anyway.
In this situation you would confiscate books. If I were him, I would call for the fire department to do home inspections and confiscate all dangerous materials like books, notebooks, anything that's not interfaced with the cloud.
