There might be a great deal of reasons for it, such as:
1. I'm using very technical language that's only part of a few specific people's vocabulary,
2. the common man isn't interested in what I have to say.
3. what I'm saying is a word salad and follows no logic or structure.
I believe communication has to have an intent, and has to consider, among other things, the recipient of a message.
If I say something that I KNOW the recipient won't understand I'm at fault, but as you've seen it's more complicated than just "it's [X's] fault."
