It's absolute fire
I just got through the scene where Mephisto is posing as Faust and telling his student about the interconnection of all logic and science but then he gets bored and tells him he should become a doctor so he can feel up and seduce women

Alright fellas, I need Faust prep, I know its a hard read so I'm reading his Maxims and Sorrows of Young Werther, what you think?

Also I think Faust 2 is impossible to read without a background of the Greek Tragedies.

You DO picture Gretchen at the correct age of 14, right? You don't """upgrade""" her to 17 to fit your modern puritanical tastes, RIGHT?

As in you're mother tounge is not German? Good luck I guess, there's not much that compares to it imo. Just try reading it, google the archaic or weird words you don't understand. It's a great book, probably the only good book we read in school.

The apotheosis/death of Homunculus in Pt II is one of my favorite scenes in literature. It reminds me of this recording:

is faust diffrent from Goethe's usally work? i liked sorrows of young wether but was bored with his whilem miester book and his plays. i enjoyed his poems the most, loved death of a fly and that one with the father and son riding a horse away from death

Very much so. Some part of me is and always be like Werther, but just the same I'm more sociable, and take rather a lot of relief in extravagant dreams, by day and night.
