no. being a slow reader is fine. especially after realizing there aren't that many books that are worth reading, so you're not behind the schedule.

It's better to slowly read and actually understand what is going on a page than to skim through everything while having zero idea what is currently going on in the story.

coping for what exactly? most well read people are the dumbest people I've known. people who think reading is so important are the stupidest people I personally know. they just don't understand what are books about and go through the motions.

Right well that personal anecdote is the opposite of every finding on literacy ever. We have tests on this every year twice a year. The better your literacy is, the faster you can read and absorb the necessary information. It’s a routine exam for university studies and is taken by millions at this point.
If you’re struggling to clear 20 pages in an hour you can barely read let alone “absorb” what’s on the page. That it’s some sign of sophistication is just a deranged cope on this board.

Close-readings debunk your theory. Nobody does a close-reading by speed reading, and we get most of our literary analysis on texts from close-readings.

You've established a preconceived notion of what a medium should be, hence your contradiction. But, doesn't that make the manga an avant-garde?

you see what I'm talking about right, you are so stupid that you can barely form a coherent sentence. you have no idea where you've started from logically and where you're going. you are the NPC that speed reading courses are aimed for because in your small brain you intuitively came to the wrong conclusion that reading faster = reading more books = more smart.

I am doing you a favor by responding to you but your small brain and your ego is a deadly combination so instead of picking up something important I'm trying to convey to your tiny brain you will keep seething like the retard you are.

do I stop the clock when my eyes go over the same line or page - yes an entire fucking page - because my brain is daydreaming the same instance I'm tryin to conceptualize the author's idea.

Speed readers are retards. You don't read literature the same way you would read a business email, just robotically intaking information in the most efficient way possible. Reading literature is a contemplative activity that involves lingering over a text, appreciating its various meanings and contradictions, reading forwards and backwards, re-reading, cross-referencing, analyzing its formal features, exercising one's imagination to the fullest extent possible in order to build out the world and the emotional lives of the characters. Speed readers are mainly interested in marking books off a checklist, "finishing" them in order to tell others they've read them and produce wikipedia-level summaries of the "plot" and "themes".
