waa this not the way, by mail,
that so many heights were scaled?
martin luther, coleridge, kant,
& many more than these, i grant,
strode in just this way; why can't
we, who call ourselves the free,
have again what used to be?

"Soul within," an interesting claim
Implying that to slyly hide
Your dong 'tween legs makes you a dame
You're batting for the other side

Yet on team's roster you're not listed
Sneaking into gated dugouts, your

No catcher's mitt, just bottom sore.

Neither doll nor bard am I
But no one, bar trannies, try

Some fleeting respect I have

For my own work (for which I'm paid)
is to make of his servants monsters all.

hit "enter" after you reach a set amount of syllables, and start a new line of text

Rappers can do it, if you can't you might want to see if your local community has remedial adult education classes for people who should have had a helper in their school years.

I thought english poetry was supposed to be about stresses, not syllables?
Anonymous No.24493190 [Report] >>24493211 >>24494347
>>24493104
Ok well I understand the question better, then. Forgive me for asking, but are you ESL? I know that when I try to read or write in Russian or Finnish I need a native speaker to tell me what's stressed and what isn't.

Assuming you're English, personally my general technique is to write more or less what I want to say, then sit there playing with words and sentence structure until the rhythm of the sentence is what I want it to be, without sacrificing more than a small bit of the meaning. Some meaning can be sacrificed in poetry if the reader can be assumed to know what you really mean, it's a balance between flow and literal meaning.
Anonymous No.24493211 [Report] >>24494357
>>24493190
>assuming you're English
native level English fluent, I meant lol

I also should have mentioned, I used to be in a relationship with a girl who was Russian, and although she was fluent in English she didn't have a native level grasp of the language. Lots of things that a native would never think about, like sentence structure, implications, word order, puns, and - relevant to what you're saying - stresses on words in poetry and music sometimes had to be explained.

I fervently hate poetry that's left decapitated
It is a capital offense and leaves your prose quite grated.
But in a sense I can't deny that the poetry flows;

Women go by, cascading sweat,

Hot on wet, moist on rosy heat.
