fame is a self-affirming force. it's alien to autists but most people think "he's famous so there must be reason for him to be famous, people cannot be wrong! and even if they are, he's still famous so I will get some of that fame by being near him!" this is something women especially latch on to.

When I read his books, it feels like chatting with a long-lost friend. Will certainly re-read.

Like him a lot. Did only read Submission and Elementary Particles now. Elementary Particles was great. I tried reading non-fiction (In the presence of Schopenhauer) from him but that wasn't really all that. Dropped it pretty fast. But his fictions work are great and I definitely plan on reading more form him.

The protagonists's dialogue with his father in the kitchen from The Map and the Territory touched me.

Possibility of an island has been on my reading list for a few weeks now. Will probably reading it if my work life is calming down more.
Is there any order to read them in? Should I read Map and Territory first?

I have only read Elementary Particles and it absolutely devastated me. I have Platform as well but haven't read it yet. I have a book of his poems in French that i'm trying to decipher kek. Island seems interesting.

Only a short piece at the start.
Serotonin was much less sexual, something that got tiring very fast in EP. Bruno was not a very entertaining character to read about.

He had a kid at 25, used to be a swinger and is married to a woman 34 years his junior who wrote her thesis on him. He even had sex with her on camera as part of that leaked porn controversy. Now that may not be the sex life that you wish you had but unless your a terminally online incel almost anyone can get a girlfriend. It’s just that only chads get stacies. Your problems are a lack of social skills and extreme introversion, possibly also problematic porn use.

I mean, he wasn't THAT bad looking when he was younger. But I think the frog genes, combined with the smoking addiction and being angry all the time may have lead to him looking like a disgusting little goblin now.
