I can't help you with books, but it's something that you develop naturally through intuition. It's tricky because you will likely be judging people based on nonsense, but if you pay attention a lot of your intuitions are right as well. Just start exercising your intuition. I haven't read the thread at all so I don't know the full extent of your little argument but pretty privilege is a thing that most everyone on earth knows exist. Ugly people tend to be bitter towards a world that has treated them like shit. Attractive people are treated better by everyone around them so they tend to have a more positive outlook on life.
It's like comparing a pure-hearted man who is experiencing his first love to a bitter jaded man who has known plenty of heartbreaks in the past. They're both going to act different in regards to love.
It's not a rule that prettier people will be nicer (they can be much more narcissistic for one) or that uglier ones will be meaner but it is much more likely for it to happen than not because of the difference of opportunites.

I am melancholic-choleric but I feel as though my melancholy is mostly brought on by the external outside world and its current state. I find it easier to be optimistic when I'm not around other people and can use this to my advantage but don't know how to stay this way or if its even possible. Also I think some pessimism is probably necessary today since I would rather understand the truth than be naive and indefinitely easy-going/happy.
