what is the greek argument against the eternity of the world? it's not the necessity of the universe.

"Greek" isn't one monolith. To name a few

Parmenides would say that all is One and that space time and division are illusory.

Heraclitus would say that the entire universe is in flux (basically confirmed by Einstein's theory of relative 2K centuries later) and that this flux and these seemingly different objects will inevitably return to One at the end of Heat death of the universe.

Basically, their opinion of space time and how it works is only real point of contention 'twixt these two men.

I don't know what any of that means but Parm thought the universe is like one Being thinking itself as different being and that all consciousnesses are ultimately one.
