Anyone here a fan of the original EU/Legends books from Star Wars?

How do they compare to other big sci-fi book franchisees like Warhammer 40k or Star Trek?

Here's an in-universe chronological list of all the Star Wars Legends Media that takes place after the Battle of Endor/Episode 6.

Some other EU stuff I liked
>Darth Plagueis book
>Shatterpoint book
>Dawn of the Jedi novel and comic series
>Tales of the Jedi comic series
>Lost Tribe to the Sith ebook series (These were prequels to the Fate of the Jedi series)

Also, the Star Wars Infinities alternate universe comic series was fun

It's pretty funny to me that the last surviving thing of the Legends timeline is The Old Republic MMORPG.

How is that still making enough money to let it survive?

I read smatterings of the old EU when I was younger, mostly the X-Wing books and the New Jedi Order. They were fine, the X-Wing books were good if you like the space battles and dogfighting. NJO had interesting ideas but the execution was lacking in places.
I just started reading the Thrawn trilogy, and while Thrawn is one of those annoying 2smart4u villains and everyone grins sardonically too much, they’re very readable stories. The characters are consistent with their screen versions and the story flows well. I had to switch to the audiobook for book 2 and they are possibly better than the novels. The narrator does a great job mimicking voices and mannerisms (Lando calls Han, Hann instead of Hahn) and they layer in sound effects and music. The re-release of RotS and these audiobooks reminded me that Star Wars used to make me feel something rather than the cold indifference I have toward DisneyWars.

Been meaning to do the post ROTJ stuff; missed it at the time. Used prices for mass market's horse shit, and Kennedy icing reprints for 'legends' only made it worse.
