Various parts of TULIP contradict a literal reading of the Bible. And if interpretation is required, why should anyone trust in the intellect of one 16th century lawyer from France ahead of the visible and historic Church? Particularly when that lawyer set himself up as anti pope, claimed only he and his councillors had the authority to interpret scripture, and judged others within a legal context according to the laws of the old testament?
