What's the Christian interpretation of Satan tempting Jesus? (against the Gnostic)

How would a lesser being, even powerful ones like Satan, know God's Will without knowing God?
That's why Satan was Satan/Evil; he tempted God and did not know His Will.
If you saw Jesus Christ, would you tempt Him or would you serve Him?
That's the difference.

Something about being human and choice. If you was simply a super powerful god that could do anything no problem his decision wouldn't mean as much. The temptation emphasizes the choice aspect of his sacrifice.

Just Jesus making a declaration of His intention and true purpose clearer. Satan had complete corporeal control of Jesus, but, that was not the battle He was going to start ahead of His priority given to Him by His Father.
