Goodreads? Amazon? Libraries? Blogs?
I buy my books from used bookstores, they're not keeping records. If I can't get it from there, I just get a free pdf online, they're also not keeping records.
I'm a man and nobody knows how many or what books I own, and I suspect this is the case for the vast majority of men that do read.
I buy a copy of Plato's complete works, and it takes me over a year to read it, and nobody will ever know of it. I'm a ghost.
Women buy a copy of smut of the week slop from the brand new book store, they've got a store loyalty card, they leave a review, they make a youtube video about it, they had a goodreads, etc, their reading habits are tracked. They read a new book every week because they're reading slop and everyone knows about it
If we define "reading" as reading the classics, which are the only things worth reading, everything else is just trash and not worthy of being considered reading, then men are the only ones who read at all. No woman is reading the classics
