Does anyone else notice that the weird trend of people reactionary and unnecessarily close-minded and harsh towards certain storytelling elements, tropes or concepts?
One of the biggest ones that I can think of is the concept of grey morality, people wanting stories to be mostly black and white with very little nuance. This is mostly blamed on stories such as A Song of Ice and Fire/Game Of Thrones.
Other one's that I constantly see being thrashed for no reason are:
>Humans are the real monsters
>Good or benevolent demons
It's a part of this weird reactionary conservatism that seems to surround storytelling discussions now.

I would ascribe this to the fall of Hollywood as a cultural bulwark

Moral greyness is seen as bad because le feminist star wars has it and thanos was actually le good actually

Tradcaths getting into nerdy hobbies I feel also has a big part to do with this. This is especially apparent if you look at how triggered they get when you dare to try and critique Christianity in your story.

Most people are stupid and too tired to think about anything. If things aren't clear, they get confused and their heads hurt. Then they start complaining about how whatever story is bad or stupid.
>good or benevolent demons
This is a stupid trope, if they are actual demons as in not even joking demons, they are by definition evil. It is like saying that water could be dry because that would be interesting.
Consider John Milton's Paradise Lost, I definitely think that he made a decent humanization of demons and showing what would be their thought patterns, they aren't cartoonishily stupidly evil, but they aren't good, they work together and have their values and hierarchies, and organization but they are what one would call 'evil'.

What shithole did you crawl out from?

We’ve had literally decades of smug “hrm but what if murdering millions was the GOOD alternative hmmmmm” grey morality shit. People are sick of it the same way they’re sick of some art fag putting a banana on a wall and going “what if THIS was art hmmMMMMM?”. What if the monstrous space bugs that paralyze you and have their young eat your body were the good guys because the Earth government looks like fascism?

Yeah, what if. And then what? Turns out the grey morality fags don’t really have anything to say, they just pose the same fucking “wot if humans woz bad” type philosophical dilemmas over and over again and they expect people to be stunned by their superior intellect each time.

Meanwhile we live in a world where they on the one hand want everyone they decide is a fascist to get punched or killed for existing but they can’t bring themselves to say Islam is a repressive and dangerous religion. The punch a nazi fags will throw themselves in front of vehicles to protect Ahmed the wide beating terrorist who decapitated people because he hates the west. Truly progressive and the primary consumer of “grey morality” content.

> and thanos was actually le good actually
The only people who want to make that claim are those who have grown up with anti human propaganda where suicide for the future of plants on Earth is a good thing. Degrowth, “humans are a virus” type propaganda and wishing death to the species has been with us since the 70s.
The idea that he could have poofed 100% more resources into existence just as easily as killing half of life is an evil capitalist idea.

Holy fucking retard. The bugs aren't "evil" in the same way that a lion or bear isn't evil. They're just doing what they can to survive.

Why are you quoting "evil" when he didn't say the bugs are evil?
