It was alright. The reveal was a bit clumsy and I would have liked spending more time on the factory itself but yeah.

banks had some good stuff. the bridge and complicity i enjoyed more than the wasp factory though. his non-sf is definitely better than his sf.

Great book, bad ending. Not in concept but in execution. There are some weird similarities between Frankie and Merricat from We Have Always Lived in the Castle I think. The two books are quite similar.

I agree, very enjoyable read but the twist reveal was slightly fumbled. Would recommend.

It was hyped up for me and couldn’t deliver. The reveal was pretty telegraphed I think. The ending didn’t support the buildup.
As far as “inside the mind of” books it’s still one of the better ones I think. Zombie by Joyce Carol Oates and Exquisite Corpse by Poppy Z Brite use the same basis and don’t really get it. Perhaps it’s a male/female brain thing?
