I have always refused to read him. But Schopenhauer said
>A novel will be of a loftier and nobler nature, the more of inner and the less of outer life it portrays.
This is also the way I rate books. Do Redditevky's and Tolsoi's novels portray inner life more than they protray outer life?

C&P and TBK are the only truly great books here.
The idiot and notes are good
Ado is forgettable
Demons is actual dogshit and I have no clue how it came to prominence. Its the literary equivalent of depicting your opposition as the basedjak and yourself as the gigachad

There’s no reason for a book to be that long. At some point there has to be diminishing returns.

Horrid taste, forgettable tales for a silly-billy, fart-face booger-eater, appropriate perhaps only for a 19 year old.

You understand this and youre REALLY surprised how it gained prominence? One day youll escape the naivete of thinking that critics, and broad literary understanding and perception is anything but a social activity to affirm and confirm ones biases. Why do you think "death of the author" is so prevalent? if I can derive any personal decided value from a book, then its really all about me, and in a sense the world is just whatever exists to appeal to and validate "me". Things do not exist independently, externally, to be appreciated or understood.

Those authors portrayal of the inner life is why they are so famous, friend. Their exploration of the inner life is the meat of those authors catalogues

dosto is one of those authors who's only impressive if you aren't aware of what else was being written at the time. same with cervantes.
